English Postdoc Fellow Caroline Hagood Lands Assistant Professorship

Great news! Fordham Postdoctoral Fellow in English Caroline Hagood just received an Assistant Professor appointment at St. Francis College in Brooklyn. In these difficult times, this is quite an achievement. When asked about it, this is what Caroline had to say:

β€œIt was certainly a shock to get a job during a chaotic time like this, but I'm so grateful to the Fordham community for helping me get to this point. Mentors, such as Heather Dubrow, Beth Frost, John Bugg, Moshe Gold, Julie Kim, Sarah Gambito, and Lenny Cassuto were central to helping me navigate the journey from dissertation to job search. Maria Farland was infinitely patient in helping me reimagine my job application materials.

Some advice that I received from a former Fordham PhD student and current BMCC Assistant Professor, Mira Sengupta Zaman, was also key in terms of helping me express my pedagogical passion in my cover letters and materials. I couldn't have done any of this without them.

I also wouldn't have had the motivation to keep applying to jobs year after year without the amazing Fordham students, who reminded me every class what all of these applications were really about. I can't wait to pay forward all the amazing mentorship I received at Fordham by sharing it with my St. Francis students. Thanks to all, and keep doing the great work you do.”

Congratulations, Professor Hagood! We wish you all the best on the next stage of your journey!
