Fordham's AXO Wins Chapter Grant for Spring Lit Week

Alpha Chi Omicron (AXO), Fordham University’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honors Society has been awarded a $500 Chapter Grant for a spring Lit Week.

”In our planning for the school year,” says AXO co-president Audrey Felton, “our executive board decided to pursue three initiatives: teaching awards (a program initiated by AXO in Spring 2021), a Lit Conference, and a Lit Week. The final event in this lineup is a week devoted to promoting a love for literature on campus. Since our planned lit week falls in line with Sigma Tau Delta’s mission, we applied for a $500 Chapter Grant to fund our programs. We are so happy that our budget request was approved and look forward to this week of programming in the spring.”

The Lit Week will feature a literature themed event every evening including creative writing workshops, an open mic at Rodrigues, and books purchased from the Bronx’s only independent bookstore The Lit Bar. “We feel that there is a need for our Lit Week because it has been difficult to foster an AXO community on campus due to the pandemic. That being said, we want to host a week of events to spread the word about AXO and get as many students engaged in our projects as possible,” says co-president Molly Henschke FCRH ‘22.

AXO’s current membership is around 40 students from both Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses. Molly Henschke FCRH ‘22 and Audrey Felton FCRH ‘22 are co-presidents of AXO with Sarah Sulc FCRH ‘22, Isabel Logios FCRH ‘22, and Abbey Delk FCRH ‘22 forming the remainder of the e-board.
