New Technology --> New Genres

New technology makes for new genres—and the literary journals have been welcoming, providing they have websites and adequate technology.

Elizabeth Stone, who teaches memoir-writing, has been experimenting with the genre herself.  Her essay, an audio soundslide, called “Back for the Summer,” an account of when her son moved home temporarily before leaving for graduate school is featured below. It will be published on line by LiNQ, in vol. 38. Elizabeth will also be reading at West Virginia Wesleyan College on January 4th.  More information on that reading can be found here

In her memoir-writing class this fall,  Stone’s students tried their hand at the genre, as well, using iMovie. Below are two of those projects.
