Forge My Path

~ Ryan Brady

Throughout the process of working on our Boss Level Project these past few weeks I’ve come to realize how valuable the connections we have made through the creative writing concentration are. Like most seniors, I have been anxious about what life after college will look like. After meeting with the creative writing concentration alums, I felt reassured that I have the ability to have a career as a writer. My group had the pleasure of speaking to Helena Madden, FCRH 18, Liz Bogaard FCRH 19, and Kiera Forsythe, FCRH 24. Each of these women taught me an important piece of advice about life post grad that I am very grateful for. Helena highlighted the importance of trusting your intuition when it comes to finding the right job for you, Lizz emphasized being bold and taking risks, and Kiera provided reassurance as when it came to the stress of preparing for job interviews. I am grateful to each of these women for helping me boost my confidence when it comes to navigating life post-grad, as they know what it is like to be in our shoes and have kindly provided their own guidance. When it comes to life post-grad, I hope to pursue a career in copywriting while still making time for my own creative writing outside of work. After working on this Boss Level Project, I am confident that I have the ability to forge my own path and create the life I want to live as a writer.
