SPEAKERS

D. T. Max has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 2010. Before that, he wrote for dozens of magazines over two decades including Worth, the Boston Phoenix, the New York Observer and Paper, where he reviewed restaurants under the name Max Neptune. Before turning to writing he was a book editor, beginning as an assistant at Washington Square Press. He also interned in finance and was briefly a potato picker in Spain. He is the author of “The Family That Couldn’t Sleep: A Medical Mystery,” a cultural and scientific study of prion disease, as well as “Every Love Story Is a Ghost Story: A Life of David Foster Wallace” and “Finale: Late Conversations with Stephen Sondheim.” 

Liam McKeone is a writer, editor, and SEO Content lead for the Breaking/Trending News team at Sports Illustrated. Previously, Liam was a digital editor for NBC Sports Boston and a writer, editor, blogger, podcaster, and SEO lead for the sports/pop culture blog The Big Lead. His day-to-day duties include covering breaking news across the sports spectrum, covering NBA, NFL, MLB, WNBA, men and women's college sports and F1, organizing and executing weekly SEO content plans for a team of 18, and writing longform NBA articles for SI's NBA team alongside Chris Mannix.

Lindsay Grippo is a writer and editor based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work has appeared in Forbes, Bloomberg, PRWeek, Adweek, Think with Google, and The Drum. She’s developed branded content for leading tech brands at the communication design agency Codeword and edited cutting-edge physical science research for AIP Publishing.

Melissa Whalen defended her doctoral dissertation at Fordham in 2013. She went on to serve as a teacher and teacher-trainer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Indonesia, and currently works as a writer/editor for U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Trade. She lives in Pittsburgh with her five-year-old daughter.
