Professor Fernald gives Inaugural Lecture

Anne Fernald, Professor of English and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Special Advisor to the Provost for Faculty Development, gave the Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday, September 12th. A scholar of British modernism, Fernald presented new research on women's political participation in WWI, titled "Vera Brittain: From Patriot to Pacifist."

Now in its eleventh year, the English Department's Inaugural Lecture showcases faculty research and welcomes new graduate students and members of the department. Past lecturers have included Professors Mark Caldwell, Ed Cahill, and Maria Farland.
