“I am so thrilled to have another stellar line-up for the Bronx Book Festival! We have lots of stuff in store for Bronxites and the general public. The Bronx is Reading - Bronx Book Festival is more than just a festival, it’s a community event and all are invited. Even if you don’t read, come to Fordham Plaza and Fordham University to enjoy the entertainment!” said Saraciea J. Fennell, founder of The Bronx is Reading and organizer of the Bronx Book Festival.

Fennell founded and organized The Bronx is Reading and the Bronx Book Festival in response to an overwhelming need for a visible literary space for Bronx residents, after the closing of the borough’s only bookstore in 2016. Fennell has since continued to organize book events like The Bronx is Reading Book Club, a monthly book meet-up at the Andrew Freeman Home Library, and the Bronx’s first Literary Crawl, to celebrate the vibrant literary community present in the borough. Sustaining momentum in cultivating an enthusiastic literary community into a second year of programming, The Bronx is Reading will provide an even bigger and better festival experience for attendees. Sponsors of the 2019 Bronx Book Festival include The Lit. Bar, Fordham University, New York City Department of Transportation, Macmillan, Scholastic, and many more.
